Home and Office Tailoring Visits in Los Angeles

Mr James will come to your home or office anywhere in Los Angeles. A visit is $300, which includes travel and a full cloth selection. Everything that happens in the showroom happens in your living room or your boardroom instead.

We are a bespoke tailoring house at 221 Culver Blvd, Playa del Rey, and a visit brings the whole of that work to you. One thing only is made here: bespoke suits Los Angeles, full canvas, cut from a pattern drawn for one person, and made by hand in our atelier in Southern Brittany, France, from $1,795.

This page is about the visit itself. For the garments, see custom suits Los Angeles, and for black tie, a custom tuxedo in Los Angeles. If the search that brought you here was custom tailor Los Angeles rather than a visit in particular, that page sets out the whole of the work. Or begin at the Mr James home page.

A visit is a way of working rather than a different product. The house keeps one service: a bespoke tailor drafting a paper pattern from nothing. That is what the phrase custom made suit Los Angeles means on our pages, and what a bespoke tailor Los Angeles ought to mean anywhere. If you would like the comparison with made to measure Los Angeles, which we do not offer, it is set out in full on that page, and the four quite different trades sold under the name suit tailor Los Angeles are separated out on another.

Who a visit is for

Groups commissioning together. A wedding party is the obvious case. Getting six men to Playa del Rey in the same week is harder than making six suits, and one evening at somebody's house solves it. Parties are twenty per cent less. More on groomsmen suits.

Men who cannot get away. If your working day does not have a free hour in it, the fitting can come to the office.

Anyone a long way across the city. Los Angeles is large and the traffic is what it is. From Pasadena, Downtown or the Valley, a visit can cost less in time than the drive.

For the Valley in particular the Sepulveda Pass is usually the whole of the difficulty, which is why the two routes are set out side by side on custom suits Sherman Oaks. The studio district is the clearest case of all, since an hour between sessions is easier to find than a round trip, and custom suits Burbank explains how a visit works there. Between the two, where Laurel Canyon and Coldwater Canyon offer a choice the rest of the Valley does not have, custom suits Studio City weighs the canyon roads against a visit. At the western end of the valley the drive is longer still, which is why custom suits Calabasas treats a visit as the usual answer rather than the alternative.

What happens at a visit

The same thing that happens in the showroom. Robb or Ben comes in person. Cloth is chosen with the prices shown, then linings, buttons and detailing. Around thirty measurements are taken, along with three photographs that record how you stand. The pattern is then drawn for you alone and kept on file.

Wear fitted trousers or jeans and a T-shirt or a well-fitted shirt. Nothing baggy. If you have a jacket whose fit you like, or dislike, have it to hand; both are useful.

The detail of a first meeting is set out in what happens at a bespoke suit consultation.

Three further pieces are worth the ten minutes before we arrive. What a tailor actually does goes through nine jobs that sit well beyond hemming a pair of trousers, how much a bespoke suit costs in Los Angeles sets out where the money goes, and how long it takes to make a bespoke suit gives the honest schedule from first measurement to final pressing. If you would rather come to Playa del Rey after all, there is a fuller account of booking a fitting.

What a visit costs

Visit to your home or office $300

That is the whole of the difference. The garments cost the same as they do in the showroom, and the full card for everything we make, with the mills set out alongside it, is published on the bespoke suit cost Los Angeles page. Unlimited fittings and a year of complimentary alterations are included in every price. A consultation at the showroom itself is free.
