Custom Suits for Pacific Palisades
Mr James is a bespoke tailoring house at 221 Culver Blvd in Playa del Rey, about half an hour down Pacific Coast Highway from Pacific Palisades. Since 2010 we have made fully canvassed, fully bespoke suits from $1,795, cut from a pattern drawn for one man and made by hand in our atelier in Southern Brittany, France.
The Palisades is quiet money on a hillside above the ocean, and it dresses accordingly: well, without wanting to be noticed for it. The suits we make for it are soft, unshowy and very well cut.
Quiet tailoring
A natural shoulder, a jacket with a little drape, cloth in muted shades, no visible branding of any kind. The quality is in the making, which is full canvas throughout, and in the fit, which is cut to you alone. Summer weddings at home
Many Palisades weddings happen in a garden or on a terrace with the ocean behind. That asks for a lighter weight cloth, a softer colour and a jacket that is comfortable unbuttoned in the afternoon sun. The best suit fabric for hot weather covers the cloth, and colour in a wedding suit covers the rest. For a wedding party we come to the house and fit everyone in one evening; parties are 20 per cent less.

An overcoat for travel
Palisades clients travel more than most, and an overcoat made for the wearer, $1,200, is a commission we are asked for every autumn. The overcoat page sets out the cloths and the cuts.
Getting here from Pacific Palisades
Down Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica, then Lincoln south through Venice and Marina del Rey to Playa del Rey. About half an hour. We are as happy to come up the coast to you.

A two-piece starts at $1,795 and a dinner suit at the same figure; a three-piece is $2,045, an overcoat $1,200, a shirt $295. Drago cloth from $2,995, Zegna and Holland & Sherry from $3,495, Loro Piana from $3,995. Full canvas throughout, whichever you choose. Everything is listed on the cost page.

Is there a bespoke tailor near Pacific Palisades?

What should a groom wear to a garden wedding in the Palisades?

Will you fit a wedding party at the house?
Yes. One $300 visit covers the whole party, with the cloth books brought to you.

How long does a suit take?
Four to six weeks in domestic cloth, six to eight in imported Italian or English cloth. Fittings are unlimited and included.
What does a bespoke overcoat cost?
From $1,200, cut from your own pattern and made in France like everything else we make.

Max, the house's French atelier, in Southern Brittany. Robb or Ben take the measurements and the fittings in Los Angeles.
